ABOUT GLASSACT

The Southeastern Michigan Glass Beadmakers Guild (SMGBG) was founded in 2000 and is the local chapter of the International Society of Glass Beadmakers (ISGB) for the Metro Detroit area. 


With a membership of about 30, we are an organization dedicated to the education, promotion and preservation of lampworking, and anyone with the desire to learn and grow in lampworking is welcome to join us, regardless of your skill level.    

OUR MISSION

  • PROVIDE education related to contemporary glass beadmaking and lampworking
  • PROMOTE the continued renaissance of glass beadmaking, lampworking, and other related glass-working techniques
  • PRESERVE the historic tradition of glass beadmaking and lampworking

OUR PURPOSE

Education:  GlassAct sponsors workshops, demos, and presentations by various experienced glass artists. We also schedule workshops with known PMC and jewelry artists.  


Shows:  Historially, GlassAct participates in a variety of shows throughout the year. 


Support:  We support each other by learning new techniques, building skills, and becoming better artists.
